No, all our courses are free of charge.
- When do
the courses start?
Self-study courses are available all year round.
Tutor-supported courses always start in September and finish in May (see more information about tutor-supported courses below).
- May I use my cellphone to complete the
course?
We strongly recommend that you use your desktop computer/laptop for our courses. In general, yes, you can access our courses on your cellphone but there can be technical difficulties with some exercises. All our courses are designed by Moodle and they work best on a computer.
- What are the contents of your A1 and A2
courses?
The courses approximately correspond to the Krížom-krážom – slovenčina A1 and A2 textbooks published by Studia Academica Slovaca – The Centre for Slovak as a Foreign Language at Comenius University in Bratislava. The courses are not based on video calls with the teacher - you study at your own pace at home, without the teacher.

- What is the difference between tutor-supported
and self-study courses?
Tutor-supported courses and self-study courses have the same content.
The self-study course is available all year round and you can study at your own pace (without uploading assignments). The tutor-supported course is launched once a year, usually in September and it continues till May. New lessons open every three weeks. This version of the course offers the option to upload assignments (essays and recordings) which are then checked and graded by our tutors. Assignments are optional but if you want to get a certificate of completion you have to upload all of them (10 essays and 10 recordings).
- What do I have to do in order to obtain a certificate
of completion?
Students who want to be awarded a certificate of completion have to follow all the instructions and submit the following assignments on time:
For tutor-supported courses:
- all 10 tests at the end of lessons - the pass rate is 60 percent and you have three attempts to pass the test,
- all 10 audio recordings and all 10 essays,
- a comprehensive test at the end of the course - the pass rate is 60 percent.
In total: 10 small lesson tests, 10 audio assignments, 10 written assignments (essays) and 1 final comprehensive test.
For self-study courses:
- the same conditions apply, without assignments.
